Elbonix 25mg Eltrombopag Pormacta, also known as Revolade outside the US. It is used to treat thrombocytopenia along with aplastic anemia. Thrombocytopenia is abnormal low blood platelet count in the blood cells.
Adults and children one year of age and older with the blood disorder Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) use it. This medicine is used when Splenectomy and other medicines like steroids and immunoglobulin have not been effective enough.
It is also used to treat thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic hepatitis C along with interferon treatment.
The FDA approves Eltrombopag to treat ITP, chronic hepatitis C patients, and aplastic anemia by immune system platelet destruction.
Eltrombopag is a medication that helps increase platelet production in individuals with thrombocytopenia. It binds and activates a protein called the TPO receptor. TPO receptor is found on large bone marrow cells, called megakaryocytes that produce platelets. Additionally, eltrombopag can improve platelet survival and reduce destruction by the immune system. Eltrombopag, a small molecule, effectively increases platelets by easily entering bone marrow compared to other drugs.
Eltrombopag’s starting dose is 50 mg daily, with adjustments for East Asian ancestry, hepatic impairment, and children aged 1-5 years. Maximum dose is 75 mg.
Eltrombopag’s easy entry into bone marrow makes it more effective in increasing platelets than other drugs.
Tips for taking eltrombopag:
Eltrombopag’s mild side effects include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Less common include liver problems, decreased white blood cell count, increased thrombosis risk, vision changes, shortness of breath, chest pain, and severe allergic reactions.
To help with chronic immune thrombocytopenia, chronic hepatitis C patients, and severe aplastic anemia, Eltrombopag olamine is prescribed. This medication is a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist, which means it can enter the bone marrow more easily than other drugs in this class, making it an effective option for increasing platelet counts. Eltrombopag olamine is safe and effective for treating thrombocytopenia, but it is important to consult a doctor about the risks and benefits before beginning treatment.
If you have cirrhosis and are experiencing thrombocytopenia (a common bleeding complication), your doctor may suggest using eltrombopag. It’s important to note, however, that eltrombopag can also increase your risk of blood clots, particularly if you have cirrhosis. As such, before starting treatment, it’s crucial to carefully consider the potential risks and benefits of this medication. You should consult with your doctor about your situation and closely monitor your platelet count throughout your treatment.
The most common symptoms of aplastic anemia include:
Aplastic anemia is caused by several factors, including:
In some cases, the cause of aplastic anemia is unknown.
There is no cure for aplastic anemia, but there are treatments that can help manage the symptoms and improve the quality of life. Treatment options include:
Doctors commonly use ATG and cyclosporine to treat aplastic anemia, a serious blood disorder characterized by insufficient blood cell production in the bone marrow. It targets and destroys T cells, which are believed to contribute to the condition. Cyclosporine suppresses the immune system, preventing the immune system from attacking bone marrow stem cells. The combination is effective in treating up to 80% of patients but can cause side effects like fever, chills, rash, and kidney damage.
Avalet 20mg and Elbonix-25mg are tablet formulations of eltrombopag olamine. Which are used to treat thrombocytopenia in chronic immune thrombocytopenia, chronic hepatitis C, and severe aplastic anemia. Where, Avalet 20mg contains 20mg of eltrombopag olamine, while Elbonix-25mg contains 25mg. Both are generally safe and effective but can cause side effects like headache, dizziness, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting. Consult a doctor about treatment risks and closely monitor platelet count.
Elbonix and Elopag are thrombopoietin receptor agonists used to treat thrombocytopenia in adults and children with chronic immune thrombocytopenia, chronic hepatitis C, and severe aplastic anemia. Both medications are safe and effective but can cause side effects like headache, dizziness, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting. It is crucial to consult a doctor about the risks and benefits of treatment and closely monitor platelet count while taking either medication.
The price of eltrombopag in USA is around $6454 which may vary depending on various factors.
