What is Fitaro?
Fitaro is a generic pre-filled syringe formulation of Semaglutide โ a GLP-1 receptor agonist โ manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. under WHO-GMP certified conditions in Bangladesh. It contains the same active molecule as Ozempic® and Wegovy® (Novo Nordisk), and is dispensed under the Named Patient Program.
Fitaro is available across five strengths to support gradual dose titration for both approved uses: type 2 diabetes management and chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related condition.

How Semaglutide Works
GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone released after eating that helps regulate blood sugar and signals fullness to the brain.
What to Expect: First 30 Days
Semaglutide is started at a low dose and titrated upward over several months โ this gradual approach is what keeps gastrointestinal side effects manageable.
- Weeks 1โ4: Start at 0.25 mg once weekly. This dose is for titration only and is not expected to have a significant treatment effect on its own.
- Week 4 onward: Your doctor will typically increase the dose in 4-week intervals (to 0.5 mg, then 1 mg, and higher for weight management up to 2.4 mg) as tolerated.
- Throughout: Mild nausea is common during dose increases and usually settles within days โ report severe or persistent symptoms to your doctor.

How to Use Fitaro
Inject once weekly, any time of day, with or without food, on the same day each week. Follow your doctor’s specific dose escalation schedule โ do not increase your own dose.
- 1Inject subcutaneously into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm โ rotate the site each week.
- 2Do not inject intravenously or intramuscularly โ subcutaneous only.
- 3If you miss a dose and it’s within 5 days, take it as soon as possible. If more than 5 days have passed, skip it and resume your regular schedule โ do not double up.
- 4Storage: refrigerate at 2โ8ยฐC. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Caregiver Guidance
- โฅHelp with injection technique if the patient is new to self-injecting โ correct site rotation reduces local irritation.
- โฅWatch for dehydration during periods of nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea, particularly in older patients or those with reduced kidney function.
- โฅWatch for hypoglycaemia signs if the patient also takes insulin or a sulfonylurea โ shakiness, sweating, or confusion need prompt attention.
